In this first of a series of videos, Matt and Dan covered subjects as diverse as why “stop throwing things away” might be the simplest sustainability strategy the industry hasn’t quite adopted yet, why timing matters when selling surplus equipment (before it becomes a museum piece), and how used equipment often opens doors to entirely new markets rather than competing with new sales.
They also discuss how resale can benefit manufacturers as much as sellers - helping customers trade in older kit towards new systems, keeping existing projects running with hard-to-find parts, and introducing high-quality brands to buyers who may later become long-term customers.
Along the way they touch on some of the equipment coming up in future auctions, including Panalux LED lighting and a brand new Avid Pro Tools S4 system expected in the March sale.
